Best Places to Visit in November
A quiet, good-value month — except around Thanksgiving
November is, for much of the world, one of the year's quietest and best-value travel months — sandwiched between October's shoulder season and December's holiday surge, with genuinely low prices across Europe, North America and much of Asia outside of specific local peaks. The major exception is the US, where Thanksgiving week creates one of the year's sharpest short-term travel spikes. Nepal's clear post-monsoon trekking window continues from October. Thailand's Loi Krathong festival lights up rivers nationwide. South of the equator, spring is in full swing, with South Africa, Australia and South America all approaching their own summer season without yet hitting peak pricing.
Good to Know About November
- Outside Thanksgiving week specifically, November is broadly one of the cheapest months to travel across Europe and much of Asia — genuinely low season almost everywhere without a local festival driving demand.
- US Thanksgiving week (the fourth Thursday of November, plus the surrounding weekend) is one of the single busiest and most expensive domestic US travel periods of the entire year.
- November remains one of Nepal's two best trekking months, continuing October's clear post-monsoon mountain visibility.
