About Shibuya Crossing & Hachiko

Up to 3,000 people scramble simultaneously in all directions under giant neon screens every time the light turns green. A mesmerizing celebration of Japanese urban synchronization.

Located immediately outside Shibuya Station's Hachiko Exit, Shibuya Scramble Crossing is the energetic focal point of contemporary Tokyo pop culture. Surrounded by soaring multimedia billboards, department stores, and pulsing music, this intersection demonstrates Tokyo's unparalleled balance between massive density and flawless public order. Beside the crossing sits the bronze statue of Hachiko, the loyal Akita dog who waited at the station every afternoon for his deceased master for nine years in the 1920s.
